The Third Trial

the shers blog
Aniket is a house husband and typically spends his day in home while Payal is a businesswoman and the sole bread earner of the family. They have two beautiful kids together and have been married for quite a while. It was on a valentine's eve that the two of them met in a bar for the very first time. Aniket was tired of his doctoral work and although he had been to the bar alone, dozen of times with the hope to find someone someday and failed every single time; but since it was 14th of Feb, he just wanted to try his luck and headed towards the Old Street. On the other hand, Payal has been running a successful business. She's too good in communication skills and that's one of they key points why all the clients adore her. But, she's a grownup now and not just her parents but she also wants to get married. After having weekly conversations with expected grooms and not liking any of them, she decides to head to the bar with her friends, due to valentine's eve none of her friends are able to join her and unusually she's alone at the Old Street's bar. The two of them share an eye contact and often a gaze at each other in certain time intervals. As destiny would have it, within a few months, both of them vowed to grow old together at the Old Street.

But love isn't that easy, is it? Payal's father was not ready to accept their marriage since Aniket was just a mere researcher, without good financial background and also would not be able to understand the busy schedule of a business woman. Aniket's mom too wasn't happy that her son was bringing home a businesswoman who doesn't know how to cook and is not traditional. This is where destiny and luck comes into play, turns out; Aniket is already a successful businessman himself who's not only financially independent, kind of explains why Aniket gets interested in Payal in the first place, but is into research because of his passion in the field. Whereas, Payal is also from a traditional family and has done her high school at her home town which is when she learned how to cook and although living in a developed country and on top of it being a businesswoman she still upholds traditional values which are meaningful. So, Payal goes on to pass the first trial of Aniket's mom  and Aniket shines with flying colors on the second trial by Payal's dad. You guessed it, they get married and soon have kids, this where the story began at the first place.

the shers blogApparently, things aren't that rosy anymore. Their marriage is falling apart. Aniket had left business as his primary occupation back then, before he even started his doctoral studies and his values don't really align with the society. He's not into frequent social meetups, he doesn't even let his kids to go to school, he home-school's them knowing the condition of the education system so most of his time is spent there. On top of it, he has his own research work to do. They collectively decide, morning breakfast and lunch to be made by Aniket and dinner by Payal, but she often brings packed food home which is not at all always acceptable. Conversely, Payal is having a hard time too, she's moved in with Aniket in his hometown and has to setup her business all over again. She says it's not about the money and she does it because she see's value in it, she finds her work meaningful. She often has to go to business and community meetups even when Aniket is not in the mood too, she goes on to participate in them individually and after she returns from work she also has to spend time with her children. This is when Aniket realizes his mom's fear to be coming true, so does Payal. Although they passed the trials initially but they're not able to sustain it. More so, it's as if the couple has lost the spark between them because after all the responsibilities they hardly have time for each other and feel as if it's not working out. This the third trial of Life.

So, who's the main character here? Aniket or Payal? It's actually life. I know this an abrupt change but hold on, and try to compare their life, who scores better? Seems like it's Payal's fault because Aniket is all set in his house husband life, it's Payal that she's not able to manage time for her family. Now, keep the story aside for a while and tell me, how often do you like doing the same tasks over and over again? Literally the same task! I know, nobody does. Same is the case with life, Life would not like to happen to everybody the same way, it's customized to everyone as per their destiny. We're all subsets of Life and although we share many similarities, all of us have our own unique journey. The entire essence of it is spoiled by the fact that everything in this world is relative and comparison just brings grief. So, it is up to us to trust the process without knowing the outcome that it'll be worth it; provided what you want is moral and your efforts are genuine. Now, instead of thinking in terms of Aniket or Payal or even yourself, think yourself to be life itself and everybody is your sub-component, basically you're in charge. How would you manage it? You'll obviously plan their destiny as per their karma. What would your ideal human be like? Be that. And oh, what happened to Aniket's and Payal's third trial? Well, I don't know neither does anybody nor do they, themselves. It would be safe to say, Life happened!

I am sorry if you expected a happy ending or at least a satisfactory one, but we don't always get the things we want.

Key Takeaway: There's always a reason for something. I am not saying whatever happens, happens for the good; but if you look at things that way, it drives you to put in the work required; just the way having faith in God gives you hope.
